Bruges Christmas Market
Where: Bruges, Belgium.
When: 24th November to 1st January
What: Enchanting, pretty wooden chalets surrounding a glittering ice rink. Intoxicating festive smells and beautiful handmade gifts, decorations and handicrafts. Bruges offers a romantic and magical setting to help get you into the festive spirit.
Edinburgh Christmas Market
Where: East Princes St Gardens
When: 17th November to 7th January
What: Explore over 100 stalls from across northern Europe with a selection of delicious food, warming drinks and beautiful handmade gifts for sale. You could also visit Santa Land or try to find the Elves’ Workshop hidden in the Christmas Tree Maze. Or why not hire a pair of skates and go for a spin around the ice rink in St Andrew Square.
Strasbourg Christmas Market
Where: Strasbourg City Centre
When: 24th November to 24th December
What: Strasbourg Christmas Markets are one of the oldest and biggest in Europe. With over 300 stalls spread across the city centre offering an array of handmade crafts, regional produce and typical Alsatian Christmas decorations, within a warm and friendly festive atmosphere.
York St Nicholas Fayre Christmas Market
Where: Parliament Street, St Sampson’s Square & Coppergate, York
When: 16th November to 22nd December
What: Over 100 traditional style chalets with twinkling fairy lights can be found lining the streets selling unique gifts including jewellery, homeware, crafts and local wines and cheeses.
Bath Christmas Market
Where: York Street, Bath
When: 23rd November to 10th December
What: Over 170 wooden chalets line the picturesque streets surrounding the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. Almost all of the stallholders come from Bath and the surrounding area, and the majority of items on offer are handmade. You’ll find decorations, bespoke jewellery, toys and much more.
Manchester Christmas Market
Where: Albert Square, Manchester
When: 10th November to 20th December
What: Over 300 festive stalls and chalets spread across the city centre. You’ll find European and local producers offering for sale beautiful gifts, crafts, jewellery, clothes and toys. Treat yourself to some amazing food and drink, from traditional bratwurst to Spanish Paella, Gluhwein or hot chocolate.
Chester Christmas Market
Where: Liberty Green, Chester
When: 16th November to 20th December
What: Over 70 traditional wooden chalets offering quality local and regional products. You’ll find crafts, clothing, accessories, jewellery, unique gifts and stocking fillers. Delicious festive food, mulled wine, hot chocolate and local ales.
Cardiff Christmas Market
Where: St John Street, Cardiff
When: 9th November to 23rd December
What: Over 80 wooden stalls will be dotted along Cardiff city centre in St John Street, Working Street, Hills Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes offering beautiful bespoke gifts, from Welsh slate and crafted candles to homemade fudge, chutneys and fruit wine.
